The Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle always attracts top class entries, from all the leading yards and if the performance of last year’s winner of the race; Sir Gerhard, is anything to go by, next year’s race will be another exciting renewal!

Ahead of the National Hunt season coming into fruition it is fitting that Tattersalls Ireland announce they will continue their sponsorship at the Dublin Racing Festival and remain title sponsors of the Grade 1 Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle for the next three years up until 2025.

Run over 2 miles and with a prize fund of €150,000, the Grade 1 race is traditionally a highlight on a stellar weekend of Irish National Hunt racing. Sir Gerhard made all the running to land the 2022 renewal and ultimately galloped his rivals into the ground to record a six-length victory at the line. The Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle consistently attracts the best Novice hurdlers in Ireland and has previously been won by many Derby Sale graduates including Asterion Forlonge (2020) and Appreciate It (2021).

Commenting on the sponsorship of the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle, Tattersalls Ireland CEO Simon Kerins said;

“We are delighted to continue our support of the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown which has undoubtedly established itself a highlight of the Jumps season in such a short period of time. The success of this year’s Derby Sale was down to the phenomenal support of our vendors who sent us their best and being able to host our loyal clients at the epicentre of the action in the Legacy Lounge is invaluable ahead of our Store Sales inspections. Sponsorships of this calibre highlight Tattersalls Ireland’s commitment to supporting the Irish racing industry and we look forward to continuing this partnership and working with the fantastic team at Leopardstown.”

Tim Husbands MBE, Leopardstown Chief Executive said;

“It is terrific that Tattersalls Ireland have signed on to continue their partnership with Leopardstown having sponsored Grade 1 races for several years and have been part of and supported Dublin Racing Festival since its inception. The Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle always attracts top class entries, from all the leading yards and if the performance of last year’s winner of the race; Sir Gerhard, is anything to go by, next year’s race will be another exciting renewal!"

As well as the sponsorship at the Dublin Racing Festival Tattersalls Ireland are thrilled to continue as one of the leading sponsors of Irish point-to-points, once again offering a package that will offer sponsorship to all Irish point-to-point fixtures. Our support, together with Tattersalls sponsorship of point-to-points in the UK demonstrates our commitment to the Hunt Committees, Handlers, Owners, Riders and all involved in the industry.

The 2022/2023 point-to-point season gets underway this weekend at Toomebridge and Castletown-Geoghegan and all the team at Tattersalls Ireland would like to wish all connections the very best of luck for the new season.
