Aslan, who took their name from the heroic lion in C.S. Lewis’s series of books chronicling the fictional land of Narnia (Aslan is the Turkish for ‘Lion’), emerged from the working class areas of Finglas and Ballymun in Dublin’s Northside, in the mid 1980s. They released a demo single, ‘This Is’, in the Spring of 1986, which was a huge hit and became the longest ever play-listed single on Ireland’s pop radio station, RTÉ 2fm.
Through their iconic song “Crazy World”, Aslan have established themselves as Irish music royalty and through renowned live shows have built a loyal and dedicated following, we’re delighted to have Dublin’s favourite sons play at Dublin Racing Festival and we’re sure this will be a show not to be missed! Aslan will play on the main stage in the festival marquee on Saturday February 1st at 6.30pm
Sunday February 2nd 2020
At only 33 years of age, George Murphy has lived an entire life in music.
Steeped in the tradition and folklore of Ireland’s greatest folk legends, George shot to fame overnight as a contestant of You’re a Star and a number one album produced by Phil Coulter, his brilliant version of Raglan Road was matched only by the great Luke Kelly.
Geogre toured the states for a few years, but reassociated himself with Irish folklore when he joined The High Kings. Now starring in his own right, his New Beginnings tour is now on the road. If you’re looking for what the sound of Dublin is, then look no further. George Murphy will take to the stage at 4.40pm on Sunday February 2nd in the main festival marquee.
