Hennessy Gold Cup
This is one of the most prestigious and glamorous race days in the National Hunt Season. It is Ireland's only race meeting to feature four Grade 1’s on one day.The Feature race, the Hennessy Gold Cup is a race that everybody wants to win. Past winners include Jodami, Imperial Call, Florida Pearl, Beef or Salmon, Neptune Collonges and Sir Des Champs. It always attracts a big crowd and it is famous for the high fashion and style. It is simply a day not to be missed.
This year's Hennessy Gold Cup took place on Sunday 8th February 2015 which was a very memorable and emotional day as the British Champion National Hunt Jockey, AP McCoy won his first ever Hennessy Gold Cup on Carligford Lough, a day after announcing his retirement at the end of the season.
Champion Trainer Willie Mullins’ Petite Parisienne took the opening race, the Grade 1 Gala Retail Spring Juvenile. Willie Mullins made it a double with Nichols Canyon’s surprise victory in the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle with Ruby Walsh on board. Paul Carberry was at his brilliant best on Apache Stronghold who landed the Grade 1 Flogas Novice Chase.
A host of celebrities enjoyed the Hennessy Gold Cup Day including model Roz Purcell, Stylist/TV presenter Cathy O’Connor and journalist Avila Lipsett. Attendees from the sporting world included Ian Renton, CEO of Cheltenham, Ivan Yates and Ken Doherty.
Best Dressed Lady 2015
The day also featured the Hennessy Best Dressed Lady and Ashling Kilduff from The Design Centre and Caroline Sleiman from Moet Hennessy were on hand to judge the competition.
This year’s Hennessy Best Dressed Lady attracted hundreds of ladies in hopes of impressing the judges with their winter racing fare. Helen Murphy from Douglas, Co. Cork beat a contingent of Ireland's most stylish ladies and ultimately walked away with the sought after title and prize, which included an exclusive Philip Treacy hat from his autumn / winter 2014 collection, the only one of its kind available in Ireland, a €3,000 Design Centre voucher, home to the best of Irish and international designers, along with a bottle of Hennessy Fine de Cognac.
