Sizing Europe Blows The Opposition Away At Leopardstown
The Henry De Bromhead-trained Sizing Europe produced what was one of the most impressive hurdling performances since the Istabraq era when absolutely bolting up in the Grade 1 AIG Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday. Ridden by Andrew McNamara, the six-year-old was still travelling supremely when leading before 2 out and he readily drew clear to win by an easy 8l from Hardy Eustace. The Grade 1 Baileys Arkle Challenge Cup was won in equally easy fashion by the Liam Burke-trained Thyne Again. Davy Russell sent the seven-year-old to the front 2 out and he sauntered clear to prevail by 15l. Elsewhere on the card, the Grade 2 Woodlands Park Novice Chase was won in good style by the Willie Mullins-trained, Ruby Walsh-ridden Pomme Tiepy.
